Horse Racing Cruelty

If you think horse racing is just a pleasant pastime, please think again. The facts behind the scenes show the extremely cruel and barbaric consequences of this so-called "sport". Thankfully the general public is becoming more aware of the truth, though only since the tragic deaths of horses in well known races, have made the headlines. Every year hundreds of horses are literally raced to their deaths. This does not even include those horses who have outlived their money making purpose and are simply shipped off to slaughterhouses abroad. Only about half of horses bred to race are actually adopted for training. What happens to the rest? Many of these beautiful creatures are shot or slaughtered for meat. Is this an acceptable part of what we call "sport"?
Once in training or actually racing, the risk of painful injury is high...broken legs, necks, pelvises or broken backs. To add to the misery, riders are regularly seen whipping their exhausted horses..not only painful but frightening for these wonderful creatures who should only be treated with respect .

Never, ever bet on cruelty!
